Enumclaw High’s Jade Paterson pinned Mount Baker’s Chloe Grafwhaller for the heavyweight title Saturday at Yelm’s Jump On It girls wrestling tournament.

Paterson bested a handful of fellow returning state place winners, all by fall, on her way to the title during the 20-team bracketed tournament. The Hornets finished eighth overall.

Teammate Kassandra Renfrow was a runner-up to Raney Lepper of Mount Baker at 152 pounds. On the whistle in the title match, Renfrow took Lepper to the mat and was working a pin before Lepper turned the tides and earned the fall.

Hornet Logann Erskine, wrestling up weight classes to 171 pounds, finished third, losing her semifinal match to a returning state place winner.

A newcomer to the program, Danielle Cormier, finished fifth at 152 pounds.

Carson Seitz was wrestling the best match of her career and leading in the opening round of competition when she hit her head and had to injury default.

The Hornets also brought Sierra Laviers and Chantal Capps for their first tournament experience.

EHS was scheduled to match up with Bonney Lake tonight, Wednesday, at home and then head to Franklin Pierce Saturday for tournament action.
