Jordan Beals shot a 2-over par 38 for medalist honors at Brookdale Golf Course as Enumclaw High topped Franklin Pierce 88-41 Thursday, but the highlight of the match came on the par-3, fifth hole when Hornet senior Jake Erickson teed off with a pitching wedge for a 130-yard drive that hit the pin, went past it about a foot and a half, took a spin and rolled into the cup for a hole in one.

It was Erickson’s first ace.

“I just happened to be there and saw it,” coach Bob Kilmer said. “It was fun. I’ve never seen one. It was great.”

Erickson, Tim Livermore and Tyler Salsbury finished the afternoon one-stroke behind Beals. Colton McCluskey, David Smith and Dylan Kleist finished at 41.

In the Hornets’ 93-5 win over Clover Park Sept. 15, Salsbury closed out the day at 2-under par 33 on the front nine at the Enumclaw Golf Course for medalist honors. Beals was one-stroke behind at 34.
