EHS WRESTLING: Hornets finish second sandwiched between Tahoma and Orting at Matmen Tournament Saturday

Behind champions Ryan Anderson, TJ Cormier and Colten Malek, the Enumclaw High wrestling team ran a close second to Class 4A Tahoma Saturday at the Central Kitsap Matmen Tournament. The Bears won the 16-team event with 228 points, followed by Enumclaw, 200.5, and Orting, 175.

The Bears won the 16-team event with 228 points, followed by Enumclaw, 200.5, and Orting, 175.

In the championship round, Anderson pinned Nick Karis of Decatur in 3 minutes, 56 seconds for the 160-pound title.

Cormier won his 195-pound champinship with a 5-4 decision over Matt Hopkins of Tahoma.

Malek captured the 220-pound crown with a 1:31 pin of Jack Michels of Lake Washington.

Lucas Somera was also in the finals, dropping a 3-1 decision to Grant Steen of Graham-Kapowsin for second place.

Cole Snider, 138, and Hunter Haney, 106, finished third for the Hornets, while Colton Hodges, 120, Justin Mitchell, 152, Kelyn Wallin, 170, Chris Williams, 285, finished fifth.
