Track: Bonney Lake’s Victoria Stinnett races to pair of victories at Tacoma Invitational

Battling Class 4A teams and 30 mph winds at Saturday’s Tacoma Invitational in the Lincoln Bowl, the Bonney Lake boys and girls represented themselves well as the girls finished seventh among 34 teams and the boys wound up 20th.

Most impressive for the girls was Veronica Stinnett who won both the 800- and 1,600-meter runs with times of 2 minutes, 22.58 seconds and 5:20.96 respectively.

Kimber Kober finished third in the 110-meter hurdles, four seconds off the pace with a time of 17.03, while Haylie Cannon had a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches in the high jump, good for a fourth-place spot.

Bonney Lake showed well in the 1,600-meter relay as the team of Haylie Cannon, Stinnett, Leslie Cannon and Leslie Sumpter claimed fifth with a time of 4:20.81.

The top effort from the boys came when Jordan Andrade finished third in the 300-meter hurdles with a clocking of 41.19.

Brandon Baumchen recorded a time of 1:58.74 in the 800 meters, three seconds of the pace and finished fifth.

Bonney Lake’s 1,600-meter relay group – comprised of Andrade, Baumchen, Reed Hawkins and Brandon Barnett – turned in a time of 3:33 to claim fourth place.
