At the Sumner School District board of directors meeting May 13, further details of the district budget were revealed and specifics of returning and resigning staff and faculty were released.
Some positions were left open in February when 11 teachers were notified their contracts would not be renewed.
One reduction in force (RIF) was applied to an aquatics specialist position at the Sumner pool, reflecting a reduction in operating hours.
Operating hours of the pool will change to 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Ann Cook, communications specialist for the Sumner School District, said the pool will continue providing its most popular programs.
The board announced other cost-saving measures at another meeting, including reducing some assistant coaching positions and utilizing one-way transportation to certain events.
The district accepted 12 resignations and retirements, resulting in 23 open positions, meaning through attrition more reductions in force were avoided.
