Passport and Licensing Fair June 13 in Tacoma

Pierce County Auditor Jan Shabro’s office will host a Passport and Licensing Fair June 13.

The Auditor’s Office, in the Pierce County Annex, 2401 S. 35th St, Room 200 in Tacoma, will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to accept passport applications and provide marriage, pet, and vehicle/vessel licensing services.

Individuals who apply for a passport book and card at the same time will pay only one $25 agent fee. Passport photos will be available – if needed – for $12.

Passport fees must be paid by check, cashier’s check or money order; cash will not be accepted). Agent and photo fees may be paid with cash or check.

Passport cards may not be used for air travel. The U.S. Passport Card may only be used for re-entry into the United States at land borders and seaports of entry when traveling from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda.

There will be a $64 application fee for marriage licenses. Both parties must be present and be 18 or older with valid photo identification. No checks will be accepted. There is a three-day waiting period and a license is valid for 60 days.

Residents of unincorporated Pierce County, South Prairie or Wilkeson, to purchase or renew pet licenses, must provide proof of spay/neuter to qualify for reduced rates.

Pet license fees may be paid in cash or check and the standard rates are: unaltered dogs/cats, $55; altered dogs, $20; and altered cats, $12.

For senior citizens, 65 and older, rates are $30 for unaltered dogs/cats; $10 for altered dogs; and $5 for altered cats.

Juvenile tags for pets less than 6 months of age are $10 for puppies and $6 for kittens.

For the first time, the auditor has added tab renewals, title transfers, permits and other vehicle/vessel related services to the Saturday fair.
