GEORGE CHEN
Enumclaw resident George Chen, 61, died July 31, 2009, in Bonney Lake.
He was born April 7, 1948, in Mukden, China, and moved to the United States when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1966 then attended the University of Washington. He served in the U.S. Army. He started working for Albertson’s as a box boy when he was 15 and worked his way up to store director. At the time of his death he was employed at the Bonney Lake store. He loved gardening, cooking, snowmobiling, fishing with his grandsons and following sports, especially the Mariners and the Seahawks.
Survivors include his wife Lisa Chen of Enumclaw; son Martin Chen of Spanaway, Wash.; daughters Tracie Mason and husband Chris of Sumner and Sheridan Gardner of Enumclaw; brother Kirk Kajita and wife Miye of Newcastle, Wash.; sister, Kathy Kajita and husband Pete of Bremerton, Wash.; and five grandchildren.
A service is planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Buckley Hall with the Rev. Don Castro officiating.
