With school around the corner, a non-profit group is looking to donations to help assist area students.

School begins Sept. 8.

Lions 4 Kids House Founder and Director Carol Wells-Reed said her group will once again provide clothes and school supplies to students in its service area, which includes the Sumner, Orting, Dieringer, Carbonado and White River school districts.

During August, the house, at 18429 89th St. E. in Bonney Lake, will be open 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

Wells-Reed said the first three days in August, Lions 4 Kids House has had 112 children come through for assistance.

“People are getting an early start on needing things,” Wells-Reed said.

She said there is a need for clothes for students of all ages including high school teens – especially jeans, hooded sweatshirts and shoes. Backpack and school supplies, along with personal care items, are also needed.

Students must have a referral from a family center, food bank or school, Wells-Reed added.

Wells-Reed said between 20 and 25 donation drop boxes will be set up throughout the Sumner, Bonney Lake and Orting area.

Clothing donations can be brought to the Lions 4 Kids facility and left in a donation station on the northeast corner of the building.

Donations are being accepted at the Sumner Family Center, 1503 Valley Ave., between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Let attendants know it is for Lions 4 Kids.
