Vehicle licensing agency opens doors in Bonney Lake

Auditor Jan Shabro announced the opening of Pierce County’s newest auto licensing subagency, A+ Auto Licensing, Inc. in Bonney Lake.
Local businesswoman Deb Houtz was selected to open the sub-agency in order to better serve the needs of the citizens on the east Pierce County plateau.
Before the Bonney Lake location opened, residents has to go to either Auburn, Enumclaw or Puyallup to renew their tabs.
“A lot of people have expressed how happy they are we are located in Bonney Lake,” said Houtz.
Before opening the office, Houtz owned expresso stands for 15 years, then spent six years in the real estate business.”
She said as a teenager in the 1980s, she worked for her aunt and uncle’s restaurant that was located nearby.
“There is a building still here where I used to play video arcade games as a teen,” Houtz said.
Houtz said the 8-month process for a licensing office started in December.
“Now East Pierce County has its own one stop source for tabs, title transfers and similar services for cars, boats, motorcycles, recreational vehicles, all terrain vehicles, trailers, and more,” said Houtz.
Customers can stop in for services or select A+ Auto Licensing for service via the state Department of Licensing Web site for online renewals. It is located at 18208 Old Sumner-Buckley Hwy, Suite 4, and is open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 253-862-8811
