Sumner High golf coach Casey Adcox had his team practicing on the Sumner Meadows course last week.
“We have a couple returning seniors who fared well last year, led by Mike Murphy. I’d say he’s our No. 1,” Adcox said. Also returning is senior Matt DeGoede and a pair of sophomores who lettered as freshman, Brandon Barlow and Austin Spanier. Those two spent their summers playing Washington Junior Golf Association golf, and have taken their games to the next level, Adcox said. Senior Spencer Ewing is also returning.
Steven Anderson, the Sumner High School girls head golf coach had his team at the High Cedars Country Club driving range last week in preparation of the upcoming season.
He said the team’s standout golfer this year is Danielle Durham.
The season for Sumner starts on Sept. 10 with a match at 3:15 p.m. at Sumner High School.
