A man who allegedly lured a Bonney Lake High School football player to the Bonney Lake public library and jumped on his back, surrendered himself to police Wednesday night.
On Monday the man told the student he wanted to conduct an interview for a college term paper. Once at the library, the male identified himself as “Dale” and the high school student noticed the man’s behavior was strange. The student tried to terminate the interview and the man, later identified as Sherwin Shayegan, jumped on the student’s back and asked for a “Piggy Back Ride”. Shayegan also gave the student a package containing odd amounts of money. The student fled the library.
The Bonney Lake Police department released information stating a records check shows that Shayegan has committed similar offenses against high school students across the state. Shayegan is possibly developmentally delayed and has an apparent fixation on high school athletes, according to the department’s release.
