Elementary and high school students in the Sumner School District have new mathematics programs for the 2009-10 school year.

The elementary math curriculum will match new Washington state performance expectations developed by the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and are a blend of conceptual understanding and computations.

High School mathematics classes will match new state performance expectations and reflect more traditional strands such as geometry, algebra and calculus. The high school curriculum is also a blend of conceptual understanding and computation.

Instructional materials were researched by a committee of teachers, staff and parents. It was approved by the School Board.
