Fundraisers to help slain officers’ families

The Bonney Lake Police Department and Applebee’s will join forces for a “Dinging to Donate” fundraising event Saturday, Dec. 12 to help raise money for the families of the four Lakewood Police Department officers killed Nov. 30 at a Parkland coffee shop.

Police Chief Mike Mitchell said the event was originally to help the family of slain Seattle Police Department officer Timothy Brenton who was killed Oct. 31.

A spokesman for the Brenton family asked that the event be used to help the four families of the deceased officers.

Applebee’s will donate 15 percent of the proceeds from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. to the families. “To Go” and “Carside To Go” orders will be applied, also.

Person much present a coupon at the restaurant to donate to the officers’ families.

Applebee’s is located at 9430 192nd Ave. E. in Bonney Lake.

Mitchell said one of his officers, who has a coffee bean business off-duty, is preparing a package for fellow officers to sale.

Mitchell added $4.50 of each one-pound bag of coffee sold goes towards the slain officers’ families

Papa John’s will donate 100 percent of its profits at more than 40 Western Washington locations to the families of the four officers on Tuesday, Dec. 8, and Wednesday, Dec. 9.
