Following the suggestion of a student, Cedar River Academy students have made a significant donation to the American Red Cross Haiti earthquake relief fund. Students contributed their personal savings in recognition of the desperate need the Haitians have following the Jan. 12 natural disaster.

US Bank provides banking service for the American Red Cross to make it convenient for donors to help Haitian victims. Recognizing the students’ efforts, US Bank representatives provided a “piggy bank” to each classroom.

“This charitable effort represents the students’ recognition of our global community, and the dire condition of the Haitian people,” said Anne Gerken, Cedar River Academy’s Director of Admissions.
