Kindergarten registration March 16 in White River

White River School District kindergarten registration for the 2010-11 school year will take place at Elk Ridge, Foothills, Mountain Meadow and Wilkeson elementary schools March 16.

Registration times are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., except at Mountain Meadow, which will start at 9 a.m.

Children must be 5 years old by midnight Aug. 31 to register for the 2010-11 school year.

At the time of registration, parents need to provide: a copy of the child’s birth certificate, proof of residence, the most current immunization record, names, addresses and phone numbers of at least two individuals (other than the parent) who can be contacted in case of an emergency, the name and phone number of the child’s doctor and dentist and the child being registered for kindergarten.

White River offers a half-day, every day program at all elementary schools. A full day, tuition-based kindergarten class is offered at schools that have sufficient enrollment for the class.

Early kindergarten is a half-day program geared toward students whose birthdays fall between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, or for older children who are not quite ready to start regular kindergarten.
