The Bonney Lake High Panthers outscored a pair of opponents 7-1 last week and maintained a frontrunner spot in the South Puget Sound League 3A soccer standings.

The Panthers defeated the Peninsula Seahawks 3-0 Friday after whipping the Lakes Lancers 4-1 April 23. The wins pushed Bonney Lake’s league mark to 4-0-1, 6-3-2 overall.

Friday’s contest saw the Panthers take a 1-0 halftime lead on the strength of JD Walter’s goal at the 30-minute mark. The lead was pushed to 2-0 at 69 minutes when Tim Knoles scored and the game was put on ice near the end when Jordan Billy added a final goal. Alex Hall recorded the shutout in goal.

Against the Lancers, Bonney Lake jumped on top 2-0 when Knoles scored in the 17th minute and Billy found the net just four minutes later. A Lakes’ goal at 28 minutes left the contest 2-0 at intermission.

Walter and Aaron Quevedo added second-half goals and the Panther defense kept the Lancers off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
