Sumner fastpitch: McCarthy smacks double, and triple in 7-2 loss

The Sumner High fastpitch squad got off to a shaky start as it traveled to Auburn Mountainview Thursday and fell behind 7-2 by the bottom of the fourth inning.

Sumner’s girls, who were out hit in the encounter 15-7, tried to rally in the top of the fifth inning but fell short as they could only drum up three runs and lost 9-5.

Starting pitcher Taylor McCarthy went 2 for 4 in the batting department with a double, a triple and a run batted in.
