The Sumner High girls swim team continued its march through the South Puget Sound League 2A with a 145-25 win over Clover Park, a 134-41 win over Bonney Lake and a 123-56 win over Eatonville.

The week’s highlight went to Madison Munger who, to coach Dana Powers’ knowledge, became Sumner’s first female swimmer to gain the title of Ironman. The Spartan freshman has qualified for state in all the individual events.

Sophomore Ashley Huynh qualified for state in the 100-yard breaststroke. Sami Hendricks is close to becoming the second Ironman, earning state qualifying times in the 50, 200 and 500 freestyle, plus the 100 backstroke. She only needs the 100 breastroke time to become Sumner’s second ironman this season. Hendricks, Munger, Emma Thompson and Alicia Ditty also qualified for state in the 200 freestyle relay.
