In what almost seemed like an anticlimactic close to their roller coaster ride of a season, the Bonney Lake High girls basketball squad lost to Decatur 46-41 Saturday in the first round of the 3A subdistrict tournament.
The normally sizzling Panthers put up a paltry two points in the game’s second stanza, to set a school record for the all-time lowest point yield in a quarter.
Bonney Lake snapped out of it in the third period to roll up 21 points behind a display of long range bombing from team leaders Naomi Pounds and Carli Elwin, but it was too little too late as the Panthers pulled a fourth quarter fade out and just that quickly their season came to a swift demise.
Elwin managed 20 points, while Pounds also hit double figures with 10.
