Lady Sparts closer to Yakima; boys off to state

The Sumner High girls basketball team topped South Puget Sound League nemesis White River 48-43 Monday night. The win puts the Lady Spartans one step closer to making the state’s Elite Eight finals in Yakima.

The SHS boys team won a 51-46 game over Renton in a loser-out, winner-to-state contest Monday night.

The Spartans next face Tumwater Friday in Tumwater in the opening round.
