SHS FASTPITCH: Spartans off to slow start

In its initial pair of outings, Sumner High’s fastpitch squad struggled against a tandem of 3A foes in nonleague action, losing to visiting Enumclaw 13-7 Thursday before traveling to Auburn Mountainview and losing 9-0 Friday.

First-year coach Kristin Crawley was not discouraged as she saw several promising performances from her young squad.
