FRAUD: Police on Dec. 3 were dispatched to the 6500 block of 185th Avenue East for a report of fraud in a deceased woman’s checking account. The reporting party told police he is the executor of the estate of his mother, who died a few months earlier, and he noticed a check in the amount of $176.21 written to her account on Nov. 22. The fraudulent check bore the name of the man’s deceased mother, though the address was different. The routing numbers matched man’s mother’s account, though a check with the same number as the one cashed was found blank in the check book. A records check found no record of the driver’s license number that was hand-written at the top of the check. Police are investigating.

WARRANT: Police on routine patrol late on Dec. 3 ran the plate of a vehicle in the parking lot of Highway Grocery and discovered the registered owner to have an outstanding warrant. The driver of the vehicle matched the description of the owner. As the man returned to his car from the store, police asked his name and confirmed he was the owner. He was detained on his warrant and transferred to the Puyallup Police Department.

OBSTRUCTING: Police on Dec. 7 were dispatched to the 11600 block of Angeline Road for a report of a car in a ditch, partially blocking the roadway. When police arrived, the car was almost fully blocking the southbound lane and was being pulled out of the ditch by a truck that was completely blocking the northbound lane. After the car was out of the ditch, police contacted the drivers of both vehicles, who were father and son. The younger male told the officer the older male was driving when the car went into the ditch. The older male did not have a driver’s license and was identified through a Blackfeet Indian Reservation Enrolled Member Card out of Montana. The officer instructed the older male to move his car approximately 20 feet and pull over again to allow other cars to pass. The driver got in his vehicle and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The officer was still in possession of the ID card and did not give permission to leave the scene as he was not dine interviewing the suspect. The officer asked the son to call his father and when the older male answered he told his son “Sorry, I am not coming back. I will deal with the consequences later.” A record check revealed the man to be driving with license suspended as well as having an outstanding warrant from Auburn. The son was also driving with license suspended. The son left the vehicle parked legally and walked to a friend’s house. Police cleared the scene and notified through the older male through voice mail that he would be charged and should turn himself in. The case was forwarded to the prosecutor for charges of driving with license suspended and obstructing a pubic servant.

COUNTERFEIT: Police on Dec. 8 were dispatched to the lobby of the Public Safety Building for a report of a counterfeit $10 bill a resident received in change at WalMart. When she attempted to use the bill, it was rejected by a store clerk. Police put the bill into the evidence room and are investigating.

THEFT OF WALLET: Police on Dec. 8 were dispatched for a report of a missing wallet at Safeway. According to the reporting party, she left her wallet, containing an ID card and $25 in cash, in an unlocked car while she went into the store and upon return it was missing. The victim was visiting from California and now had no identification for the train ride home and would not be allowed to board. Police confirmed her identity and provided a case number on letterhead to allow her to board the train.

HARASSMENT: Police on Dec. 9 were dispatched to the 17600 block of 106th Avenue East for a report of harassment. The victim told police she was at home late the night before and received a several phone calls from a male talking about sexual fantasies. Thinking she knew the caller, she repeatedly told him to stop as he continued to talk in graphic terms and when she asked why he was doing this he said “nobody wants me.” The next day, the victim talked to the person she thought it was and he denied making the call and the victim realized she did not know the caller and became disgusted. Police are investigating.

EGGED: Police on Dec. 9 were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Inlet Island involving a Sumner School District bus. The bus driver told police she saw a small car coming toward the bus with the passenger’s arm out the window. As they passed the bus, the passenger in the car tossed something at the bus, which struck the windshield on the driver’s side, causing her to slam on the brakes. No one was injured and there was no damage. She notified a second bus behind her who got the license plate information on the vehicle. The vehicle was registered at Bonney Lake High School and the driver was brought to the office. He denied seeing anything, but the officer noted his demeanor led him to believe the suspect was not being truthful. Security brought the other two students in the car to the office and one of the passengers admitted to throwing the egg. The driver then admitted he knew about the plan. The incident was handled internally by school security.

PROWLED: Police on Dec. 9 were dispatched to the 19700 block of 99th Street Court East for a report of theft from a vehicle. According to the victim, when she went to her car in the morning, she discovered her center console and glove compartment had been gone through. Children found a stack of her mail in the woods near a playfield. The mail was all at least a year old, but two credit card statements had been opened and the statements were missing. The victim said the cards were closed and there was no fraudulent activity on the account. Police are investigating.

PROWLER: Police on Dec. 12 were dispatched to the 11100 block of 184th Avenue East for a report of a vehicle prowler in the area. The suspect was seen peering into vehicles and trying the handles. Police located a suspect matching the description and during questioning, the suspect admitted to trying car doors and to taking items from one of the vehicles. The items were returned to their owner. The suspect was cooperative with police. he was cited for theft and released.
