Subjects in the police blotter are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

DRUGS: Police on June 6 were dispatched to the New Peking Restaurant to assist East Pierce Fire and Rescue with a male found unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Police observed on the back of the toilet a metal spoon, tin cigarette box and plastic baggie, as well as a syringe containing a liquid, brown substance believed to be heroin. Witnesses said prior to going into the bathroom the victim seemed normal, but was sweating a lot. East Pierce transported the man to Good Samaritan Hospital and police collected the paraphernalia as evidence for possible charges.

FOUND: A city employee on June 6 turned in a ring found by a citizen on the floor of the court room earlier that day. Police placed the ring into the property room for safekeeping.

FRAUD AND THEFT: Police on June 7 took a phone report of fraud from a Tacoma woman who had a check book stolen and discovered the checks were used at the Bonney Lake Target in the amount of $252. Police took the report and are investigating.

BURGLARY: Officers on June 8 were dispatched to the 17800 block of Bonney Lake Boulevard for a report of a residential burglary. The resident returned home from work to find her house in disarray. It appeared an unknown suspect pried open the front door to gain access. The deadbolt was left unlocked at the time of the burglary. Among the missing items were a specially made guitar and banjo valued at $900, a flat screen television and three hard drives. The resident’s home office was also ransacked. Police are investigating.

BUSTED: Police on patrol June 9 recognized in the Fred Meyer parking lot an individual who had six outstanding Bonney Lake misdemeanor warrants and stopped him. During a search, police located on his person a glass pipe containing marijuana residue. Police left the man’s bicycle locked in the Fred Meyer bike rack and transported the individual to the Buckley Jail where he was booked on his warrants and charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

STOLEN PROPERTY: On June 9, an officer parked in the Fred Meyer parking lot  was contacted by a man  who said a neighbor had a generator stolen the day before and his wife located on Craigslist an ad describing a generator similar to the one stolen and arranged a meeting at a residence in the 9600  block of 210th Avenue East. Upon seeing the generator, the man knew it was the stolen one and told the person he had to go get cash to purchase it. He gave the suspect the money and the generator was unloaded from a truck. The man confirmed through serial numbers that it was the stolen generator and then saw the truck owned by the suspect pass him and park at Fred Meyer, which is when he flagged down the officer. When the suspect exited the store, he saw the police and turned around and re-entered the store. Police contacted him inside. He told police he did not know why they stopped him and said he had never seen the man to whom he sold the generator before. Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies confirmed the generator was stolen and the suspect was arrested for trafficking stolen property. A search revealed three $100 bills in his wallet, which he told police he got mowing lawns. Police then located in the store the woman that was with the suspect and she too was arrested and found to be in possession of three $100 bills. The money was turned over to the deputies and the man was transported to Pierce County jail and booked on charges of first degree trafficking stolen property. Deputies will handle the investigation of the woman.

VANDALISM: Police on June 12 were dispatched to the 6400 block of 194th Avenue East for a report that a sliding glass door on a residence suddenly shattered. Police located an impact the size of a bb or pellet from an air rifle. Police are investigating.

PROWLED: Officers on June 12 were dispatched to the Safeway parking lot for a report of a theft from a vehicle. Upon returning from shopping, the victim discovered a bag containing hunting knives and a pistol missing from his vehicle. The man had all the proper permits for the weapon. He said he always locks his car and was sure he did then, but police found no evidence  of damage to the car. Police are investigating.

SHOPLIFTING: Police on June 12 were dispatched to the Walmart for a report of four juvenile males observed stealing alcohol. Two of the juveniles admitted to coming to Walmart for the purpose of stealing alcohol. The teens were released to their parents and the case was forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor at Remann Hall.
