All suspects in the police blotter are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
WARRANT: At 9:20 p.m. Aug. 21, an officer was dispatched to the Fred Meyer in Puyallup, where a Puyallup Tribal Police officer was holding a man in custody. The man had been found to have a misdemeanor warrant out of Bonney Lake Municipal Court for theft. The Bonney Lake officer took custody of the man, performed a search, and brought him into custody before booking him into Enumclaw Jail.
FAILURE TO TRANSFER TITLE: At 11:45 p.m. Aug. 22, an officer ran the plate of a pick-up traveling north on Locust Avenue. The report showed the vehicle was sold on May 15, with no corresponding title transfer. The officer stopped the truck and ran a check on the driver’s license. The man had a Buckley warrant for driving while license suspended. He was placed under arrest and transferred to Buckley Jail. Arrangements were made for the vehicle to be released to a responsible party and the officer verbally warned the man to transfer his vehicle title.
MOOSE BANDIT: At 11:30 a.m. Aug. 23, an officer responded to a 197th Avenue East residence regarding a report of burglary. The homeowner had previously spoken with the officer regarding suspicious activity at his unfinished home, but he declined to file a report as he did not know if there had been a crime beyond trespassing. Sometime between Aug. 18 and Aug. 21, unknown persons broke the south window of the home to gain entrance, and stole a large stuffed moose head from inside. A hanging chandelier made from wild game antlers was removed from the ceiling and left lying on the floor. The officer later searched Craigslist and found a mounted moose head for sale in Bellingham. The frame was covered in heavy dust or mold consistent with the interior of the Bonney Lake homeowner’s residence. The case was still under investigation at the time of the police report.
RECKLESS DRIVING: At 12:28 p.m. Aug. 25, two officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint near the state Route 410 Subway restaurant. An employee from the restaurant called to report a black Pontiac Trans Am hit a menu sign at the business and hop a curb; the driver had appeared intoxicated. Dispatch advised the Trans Am was leaving the parking lot northbound toward the Cedarview residential area. One of the officers observed a black convertible Trans Am turn off 97th Street, accelerating in such a way that the rear tires spun and the back end drifted sideways during the turn. The area of the roadway was under construction and unpaved, so the maneuver kicked up rocks and dust at a time when several other vehicles were traveling the roadway. The officer confirmed the convertible’s license plate number was the same given by dispatch. The officer stopped the vehicle for reckless driving in the Midas parking lot. Four subjects were inside. The driver could not provide any documentation and told the officer he had warrants. Dispatch report confirmed he had a warrant for reckless endangerment and a suspended drivers status. Identity was confirmed when the suspect gaveĀ his birthdate. He was placed under arrest and a search turned up a baggie of crystalline substance consistent with methamphetamine, and several pills, some of which were later identified as Diazepam.
