Sumner’s Relay for Life help senior citizens participate in their events | Slideshow

The Sumner Relay for Life will be hosted a “mini” Relay at Stafford Suites in Sumner Wednesday, June 24th.
Residents of the assisted living community decorated luminaria bags in honor of anyone in their life that is battling cancer or in memory of anyone they have lost to cancer.
These bags will be spread around the main Sumner Relay for Life event.
Summer Mays, 11, sang the National Anthem for Stafford residents as an opening act for games and entertainment.
Residents also walked laps around the Stafford property as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
The Relay for Life of Sumner said they wanted to do an event at Stafford Suites because they understand that it can be difficult for people living in an assisted living community to attend the Relay.
The residents and staff at Stafford Suites have had a Relay team for the past 14 years and have raised a considerable amount of money in that time ($10,500 so far this year alone).
