The following is a press release from Enumclaw VFW Post 1949:

Enumclaw VFW Post 1949 will be holding their Memorial Day Poppy Drive differently this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each year around Memorial Day and Veterans Day, the Post hands out Buddy Poppies and solicits donations for Veterans Relief work.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we will not be able to greet people and chat as in the past. However, our work assisting needy veterans and their families continues, so we are offering a different approach for this time.

We will be placing a red Poppy Donation box on a table at both Safeway and QFC in Enumclaw on Thursday, May 21 through Sunday, May 24. The box will be on a table with Buddy Poppies for the taking. As a health precaution no VFW members will be present. Any donations will be appreciated.

Donations can also be sent to VFW Post 1949, P.O. Box 14, Enumclaw, WA 98022. Please mark the envelope “Poppy Donation”.

These funds can only be used for veteran’s assistance and providing support to Americanism education (think flags, copies of the Constitution and the like) per our National By-Laws. None is used for general operation of the Post.

We wish to thank Ron & Leo’s Welding for their generosity in providing the Donation Lock Boxes.
