Due to the ongoing Fish Fire, state Route 410 between Enumclaw and Greenwater will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

The Washington state Department of Transportation noted in a Sept. 14 email that the highway, which closed Sept. 8, will “remain closed for several weeks.”

“We’re still waiting to move in,” said Joe Calabro, spokesperson for the DOT, in a Sept. 18 phone interview. “The issue for us is the fire has burned away a lot of the trees and roots above the roadway, above 410, and that’s loosened up a lot of rocks above the road, so we have to keep the road closed for driver safety.”

Calabro added the DOT hopes to have a better idea of what repairs will need to be made and when the highway could possibly re-open sometime this week.
