The Enumclaw library parking lot will re-open to public parking on May 25.

The lot closed Tuesday, May 24, as the city removed trees that separated the pavement from the field to the southeast.

This is in part because the field is going to be turned into a parking lot by the Thunder Dome Car Museum, which will mostly be available to the public, but can also be closed for private events throughout the year.

The trees were also a safety issue.

“During our seasonal windstorms, we have experienced large branches falling from these trees which poses a threat to the public and property,” said Enumclaw’s Public Works Director Ed Hawthorne.

Trees were felled early Tuesday morning, and stump grinding will take place early Wednesday.

“We expect the lot to fully re-open Wednesday barring no unforeseen issues,” Hawthorne continued.
