Enumclaw warns of fake text

The city of Enumclaw is alerting its residents to a fake text from 877 number.

“This message did NOT originate from the City and should be disregarded,” the city wrote in a Dec. 17Facebook post. “The message appears to be AI-generated, combining publicly available information about City boards and commissions along with details related to the City Council vacancy and an application deadline of [Dec. 29, 2025].”

The information of the text is inaccurate, as it advertised that were vacancies on all Boards and Commissions and applications. There are only two openings — one on the Parks Board and the other on the Human Services Advisory Board.

The city does not have a copy of the text.

The city suggests recipients of the text should not respond.
