The city of Enumclaw will be celebrating America’s 250th anniversary this summer with a new flag pole at city hall.

The Enumclaw City Council awarded a bid for the $101,000 project to Marshell River Construction during the April 13 meeting.

The project involves replacing the current flagpole with a 50-foot pole as well as brick masonry work and lighting installation, plus the installation of a commemorative plaque.

The vast majority of funds for the project came from King County Council member Reagan Dunn in the form of a $100,000 grant; the rest of the money will be supplied by the city.

Construction is expected to begin in May and last for 45 days, hopefully plenty of time before Independence Day.
