MEMORIAL DAY SERVICE AND CONCERT

The Enumclaw VFW Post 1949 and the city of Enumclaw is hosting its annual Memorial Day services on May 26 and 27.

On May 26, gather at Veterans Park at 2 p.m. for a service starting at 2 p.m. The Gateway Concert Band and the Allegro Women’s Ensemble will be performing, plus speeches, a reading of the names, laying of the wreaths, and a rifle salute.

Services continue on May 27 at the Evergreen Cemetery starting at 9 a.m.

SINGLE EVENTS

May 1

Cruiz’n Cole: The Enumclaw cruise season has begun! Cars will start rolling down Cole Street at 6 p.m. — but make sure you grab your seat early, because the sidewalks fill up fast.

May 2 – 10

Baby Animals and Blooms: Maris Farms’ annual Baby Animals and Blooms festival continues on Saturdays and Sundays through May 10. Beyond being able to pet cute critters and walk through the fields of hundreds of tulips, this year’s event features themed days where families are encouraged to dress up as pirates, princesses, superheroes, and more. May 8

Mamas & Makers Market: The city of Enumclaw and the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Mamas & Makers Market on May 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. under the white tent at Cole and Stevenson. There will be local artisans, retailers, food, and a mimosa bar, with live music by Allie Jonas.

May 9

The Flutes of Fair Sprint: The Cascade Recorder Consort will be visiting the Enumclaw library for an hour of “beautiful mostly medieval music” to celebrate the season.

Garden Club plant sale: The Enumclaw Garden Club is hosting its annual plant sale on May 9 at the corner of Cole Street and Initial Avenue from 9 to 2 p.m.

May 9

Mother’s Day market: The Ten Trail’s neighborhood in Black Diamond is hosting a Mother’s Day pop-up market on May 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ten Trails Welcome Center. There will be more than 20 local vendors, food trucks, and a mimosa bar.

May 19 – 20

AGRIventure at the Expo Center: The Enumclaw Expo Center is hosting its first-ever AGRIventure event on May 19 and 20. The event is billed as “an interactive field trip experience designed to connect youth with the world of agriculture. This includes livestock care, crop production, farm-to-table, agriculture tech, and food systems. The event is designed for 4th and 5th grade students, plus community members and educators.

There will also be a Farmer’s Dinner on May 19, where kids and families can meet a farmer and hear their stories. Doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner is served at 6 p.m. Proceeds will be donated to youth that present their livestock at the King Count fair. Tickets are $54 for individuals, or $405 for a full table of eight. But tickets at enumclawexpo.com/p/tickets.

May 30

Danish plant Sale: The Enumclaw Danish Sisterhood is hosting its annual plant sale on May 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Not only can you buy locally-grown plants, but you can also attend an aebleskiver brunch and peruse a bake sale inside the historic Danish Hall.

RECURRING EVENTS

Brewskis with a Newsie: Come meet your local journalist on every first Wednesday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. at Fill’s Growlers (check the back room). This is an informal event where residents can pitch stories, fact-check articles, and talk shop. For more information, email rstill@courierherald or call 360-802-8220.

Scottish Dancing: The Plateau Scottish Country Dancers have resumed Monday night classes and are welcoming new members. Classes are from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Danish Hall (1708 Porter St. Enumclaw). Cost is $5 per person and a partner is not required. Dances are taught according to the skill level of those attending, so beginners are always welcome! Scottish Country Dancing is a centuries-old tradition reflecting the music and culture of Scotland. It’s great exercise and a lot of fun! Come see what we do. Coffee with the Mayor: Enumclaw Mayor Anthony Wright hosts a Coffee with the Mayor on the first Mondays of the month from 9 to 10 a.m. This is a casual session for citizens to meet with him and discuss issues, concerns, and projects.
