A Buckley man has been officially charged with assault, felony harassment, and discharging a firearm after shots were fired at Uncle John’s RV Park.

According to court documents, Kristopher Michael Kusack was allegedly heavily intoxicated and on anti-psychotic mediation around 9:45 p.m. on June 14 when he began threatening his son and wife, injuring the former.

At the same time, another park resident approached the RV where Kusack and his family were in to thank him for stew from the night before.

According to the victim, Kusack accused him of making him “spill his stew” and threatened to kill him.

The victim thought Kusack was kidding at first, but Kusack went back into his trailer to retrieve a weapon and put it against the victim’s head.

Kusack then fired two shots near the victim’s head and shoved him to the ground. When the victim got up to retreat, a third shot was fired in what the victim believed was in his direction.

No one was injured by the shots.

The park manager arrived on the scene with his own firearm after hearing what he thought was fireworks. Instead, he saw Kusack aiming a gun at someone, and then lowering the gun to discharge it into the ground.

When law enforcement arrived, they found Kusack leaning against a vehicle.

He initially did not comply with officers’ commands to put his hands up and was verbally combative, but deputies were able to arrest him without major incident.

Kusack is charged with assault in the second degree, assault in the fourth degree, two counts of felony harassment, and discharging a firearm.

He was arraigned on June 16 and pleaded not guilty.

The charges against Kusack are only allegations, and he is presumed innocent until he is proven guilty in a court of law.
