Reid Frederick Peterson

July 27, 1945- June 30, 2026

Reid Frederick Peterson was born in Evanston Illinois on July 27, 1945 and died on June 30, 2026 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, just 27 days shy of his 81st birthday. He was the son of Richard and Elizabeth (Fowler) Peterson.

Reid was a kind and thoughtful man who quietly served his fellow humans. He was a gifted artist, loved reading, especially history, and spent his later years serving as Board secretary of the Enumclaw Plateau Historical Society. His institutional knowledge of historical facts and pioneer events of Enumclaw and the vicinity was valuable to those who came to the EPHS museum to find photos of their homes that were built at the turn of the 20th century.

Reid graduated from Enumclaw High School in 1963. He attended the University of Puget Sound and Central Washington University where he earned a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts. Among his art specialties were building sculptures from found materials, drawing, and wood cut prints. Some of his works were shown at “Dick and Jane’s Spot” in Ellensburg and at various venues around the state.

Reid was a long-time resident of Enumclaw where he had many friends. He was caregiver for his father at the end of his father’s life.

He served in the U.S. Army for four years as a dental assistant and later for the U.S. Forestry Service.

He is greatly missed.

He is survived by his older sister, Suzanne Peterson, a resident of Mountlake Terrace.

His parents preceded him in death.

A celebration-of-life service will be held at the EPHS Museum at 1837 Marion Street on Saturday, August 1 at 1:00 P.M.
