Letter to the Editor: Asking for proof from faith? Ask for evidence from Darwin

John Heywood is credited with the quote, “There are none so blind as those who will not see.” Hundreds of years before that, the profit Jeremiah referred to foolish people without understanding which have eyes and see not; which have ears and hear not.

Larry Benson recently stated, in part, that “…logic, evidence and science are what we should base our lives on and not… a supreme being that no one knows anything about except what they choose to believe with zero actual evidence.”

Creation, everything we see around us in nature (if indeed we do have eyes to see), is the evidence. The human body is one example. There’s nothing else quite like it. For instance, humans have a respiratory system which takes in oxygen and exhales carbon dioxide, water vapor, and unused oxygen. Of course that starts with our noses and mouths and with the aid of a number of muscles expands and contracts our lungs, usually without the need to pay any attention to the process.

But that entire process would be useless if we didn’t have a circulatory system to transport the oxygen we take in via blood vessels to every cell of our bodies, thanks to the pumping of the four chambers of our heart.

Then let’s not forget the immune system. You cut yourself. Not only were you created with a body that would begin to close the wound, but your immune system would fight infections at the same time.

I’m thankful for my digestive track which allows me to take in food and drink and eliminate the waste.

An atheist has to pretend that somehow these things just accidentally happened.

Someone with common sense understands that there is an intelligent design to the human body, and to every other plant and creature in this revolving miracle that we call planet earth.

Atheists have to claim that there is some rational explanation to how all we see around us exists and interacts together in our ecosystem so well besides a Creator of the heavens and the earth. They’ve turned to Darwin for the answer.

So, since Larry is the one demanding evidence, what evidence did Darwin give you to convince you that the complexity of the human body evolved from who knows what?

And I don’t recall any other animal that can reason with one another. So, as I’ve challenged any atheist before, prove to me that there is no God, that the uniqueness of every plant and animal on the planet happened accidentally and I obviously will have to admit I’m mistaken.

And the good news, from my perspective, is that the atheist is capable of looking at the evidence also and also has the ability to change his or her mind.

I think some atheists have at least been honest enough to admit that what we see in nature didn’t just happen from chance and at least became agnostic. That’s a step in the right direction.
