For the second straight year, Southwood Elementary School was named a Washington State School of Distinction.
School of Distiction awards are based on test score improvements during the last five years and moving students up on each of the performance levels.
This year’s honor was presented by the Washington State Kappan Center for Education. Previously, the state Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction did the honors.
Southwood is one of 55 elementary schools to receive the award and one of 16 to be a repeat winner.
Enumclaw School Board members are expected to honor Southwood at its October regular meeting.
