Little luck for Panthers tennis players against Lions | Bonney Lake Tennis

Only the second doubles team of Nate de Leon and Sam Goff were able to put a victory on the board, winning their match 6-2, 7-6.

It was a tough week for the Bonney Lake Panther tennis team, who lost 1-4 to Auburn Mountainview at home April 18.

Only the second doubles team of Nate de Leon and Sam Goff were able to put a victory on the board, winning their match 6-2, 7-6.

First singles player Alise McCoy, on her own quest to return to the state tournament, but hit a hiccup, losing 6-7, 3-6 to Maggie Henderson, whom coach Billy Jacobsen called the best player in the league.

With the team’s usual second singles player Olivia Ottinger sidelined by a sprained ankle, Linsey Holdner stepped up and gave a great effort, according to Jacobsen, but fell 0-6, 0-6.

In first doubles, the team of Molly Miculinich and Kelsey Kober, who experienced some early success this season, had trouble getting it going and fell 4-6, 2-6, while the third doubles team of Sam Garrity and Madeline Mazur fought hard, winning the first set, losing the third and then going up 4-0, before dropping six straight games for a 6-2, 4-6, 4-6 loss.

The Panthers were scheduled to play monday against Lakes and Wednesday at Decatur.
