BLHS TENNIS: A rocky start levels off to 1-1 record

The Bonney Lake boys tennis team season started off a bit rocky, but the Panthers bounced back with a win in their second match to level their record at 1-1.

The Bonney Lake boys tennis team season started off a bit rocky, but the Panthers bounced back with a win in their second match to level their record at 1-1.

The season got started Sept. 7 with a 4-1 loss to Lakes.

The lone Bonney Lake win came from second singles player Brody Fitzsimmons, who won his match 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

Fitzsimmons kept it going Friday against Decatur, picking up his second win in as many tries with a 6-2, 6-1 victory as the Panthers picked up their first team victory, 3-2.

First singles player Andy Leaf rallied from an opening-match loss to Lakes to roll to a 6-0, 6-0 win against Decatur’s top player.

In doubles play, Bonney Lake’s first doubles team of Deven Crump and Zach Volin battled to a 6-1, 6-3 victory, dropping a second set 6-3, to give the team a W.

Tthe second doubles team of Nathan Scott and Taylor Rowland and the third doubles team of Adam Hunt and Scott Jackson are still searching for their first wins of the season.

The Panthers face Enumclaw today, Wednesday, before a Thursday matchup with cross-district rival Sumner Thursday and a nonleague match against Kentridge Friday.
