An assistance fund is set up for a Bonney Lake family who lost their home during a July 4 fire.

The fire destroyed the home of Jack and Nancy Gott and their two children, a 12-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl. The two-story home was located on 91st Street East in the Kelly Glade subdivision.

Donations can be made to the Gott Family Assistant Fund at any Bank of America branch.

Lisa Keaton, a Bank of America employee, is a neighbor of the Gotts. She said her family was out of town the day of the fire and returned the next day to see the Gott home destroyed.

“My 10-year-old daughter was very upset when she saw their home, as we all were,” Keaton said. “We talked about what we could do to help the family. We thought starting a fund would be helpful.”

Keaton said with school starting soon, the children will need clothes, backpacks and school supplies. The Gott’s daughter will be starting high school this fall, added Keaton.

She said the family is currently staying in a rental home in Bonney Lake. “They just moved in a few days ago.”

The family received assistance from the American Red Cross and seven days worth of meals from Dream Dinners.

“Any small amount people are willing to donate will be helpful,” Keaton said. “We just want the family to know there are people out there that care and want to help.”
