The Sumner High School Band Association will present its annual Big Band Dance and Auction from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Sumner High School gymnasium, 1707 Main St.
The evening will include jazz band performances by students from Sumner, Bonney Lake and White River high schools, along with Sumner, Mountain View and Lakeridge middle schools.
The Sumner Band Association is raising money to offset rising transportation costs to various band events locally and outside the area. The Sumner High band has performed at local events like the Daffodil Parade and the Western Washington State Fair, at events in Wenatchee and White Rock, B.C., and at halftime of a University of Washington football game. Band members traveled as far as Beijing, China, for the Olympics and the Sumner Band has attended past Rose Parades in California.
Items available for silent auction and raffle include: a $500 gas card, drivers education class from Swerve Driving School and an E.B. Foote Winery private wine tasting party, as well as many family and romantic weekend getaway packages.
Tickets are $5 per person or $15 for a family of four and are on sale now. Complementary desserts and refreshments will be served. For tickets or information, e-mail sumnerhsband@gmail.com.
This is a family-friendly event and all are welcome to attend.
