Longtime Buckley resident Roy Mendenhall died peacefully Nov. 21, 2016, in Puyallup.

He was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Seattle to Lillian and Clyde W. Mendenhall. He attended St. Alphonsus in Ballard and graduated from O’Dea High School. He served in the U.S. Army, retired from Boeing after 37 years, volunteered as a fireman/EMT and was a former fire commissioner. He had a love of trees, especially conifers, and was passionate about his 1948 Triumph Tiger 100 motorcycle.

He is survived by his brother Thomas; sister Susan; and children Brian, Kathy and Trudy. He was preceded by his wife Eunice; son Roy Jr.; and brothers Stanley, Patrick, Gordon and Delmar.

A funeral service is planned for today, Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley and burial is at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bremerton.
