Hawk inducted into EHS Athletic Hall of Fame

The former basketball coach let the Hornets to win 276 games to 95, and secured 9 state trips.

The Enumclaw High Athletic Hall of Fame welcomed Bill Hawk during a Friday night induction ceremony, adding his name to a prestigious list of athletes, coaches, administrators and program boosters.

Enumclaw High is where Hawk spent 32 years developing young athletes during a career that eventually spanned nearly a half-century and included stops and a small handful of other schools.

During his first 17 years at EHS, Hawk was either the freshman or volunteer varsity assistant basketball coach as well as the defensive coordinator for the Hornet football team. After Hall of Fame coach Gary Radliff retired, Hawk took the Hornet reins and built a Hall of Fame career of his own.

The numbers show why Hawk was twice deemed Hall-worthy, having been inducted into the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame six years before his EHS honor. During a 15-year run at Enumclaw, Hawk’s teams captured eight league championships and made appearances in nine state tournaments. His teams had five state placings, including third-place finishes in 1990 and 2002.

His career record at Enumclaw High was 276-95.
