EHS TRACK: Hornet girls defeat Lakes Lancers, boys come up short

Mixed results came the way of the Enumclaw High track and field program April 13, as the Hornet girls ran to an easy victory over the Lakes Lancers while the EHS boys wound up on the short end of the final tally.

Mixed results came the way of the Enumclaw High track and field program April 13, as the Hornet girls ran to an easy victory over the Lakes Lancers while the EHS boys wound up on the short end of the final tally.

The meet, staged at Harry Lang Stadium in Lakewood, had the EHS girls winning 93-55. At the same time, the Hornet boys were falling 95-50.

Event winners for the EHS girls were Becca Cross, who took the 200-meter dash in 28.98 seconds; Emily Eilertson, who won the 400-meter run in 1:05.64; Hannah Calvert, 1,600 meters, 5:40.43; Maria Blad, 100-meter hurdles, 17.65; Sarai McCollaum, 300-meter hurdles, 55.40; AnnaMaria Forza, javelin, 84 feet; Sherry Baer, pole vault, 7-0; and Olivia Bannerot, long jump, 15-7. Additionally, Enumclaw foursomes were tops in the 400-, 800- and 1,600-meter relays.

The EHS boys couldn’t put as many in the winner’s circle.

Taking top honors in their events were Robby Johnson, who ran the 200 meters in 24.79; Larry Calvert, 800 meters, 2:06.67; Jason  Greer, 110-meter hurdles, 17.0; Kolton Carlson, discus, 128-11; and David Brazier, pole vault, 12-6. Also, the Hornet crew won the 1,600-meter relay.
