County sets another Enumclaw meeting to discuss land use

Possible changes in the way property owners can use their land will be a topic of discussion April 15 when a group from King Country government comes to town.
The King County Council's Growth Management and Unincorporated Areas Committee has reserved the Enumclaw High School commons for the Thursday meeting. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the meeting scheduled to run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The meeting is designed to allow the committee to take public input on two packages of legislation: first is the 2004 update to the King County Comprehensive Plan; second is known as the "critical areas package," which consists of ordinances relating to "critical areas," clearing and grading and the handling of storm water.
King County has sponsored several meetings in Enumclaw during the past few years to discuss "critical areas" legislation and has traditionally come under fire. Local residents have made it clear they disagree with county proposals for governing land use.
The Enumclaw meeting is the first of five such sessions slated by the county. Additional meetings will be April 20 on Vashon Island, April 22 in Carnation, April 26 in Maple Valley and April 29 in Woodinville.
