The Enumclaw pool will soon receive a portion of cash being granted to various South King County projects.
King County Council member Reagan Dunn announced the $4 million in grants in a July 24 press release.
“I’m thrilled to see projects like… the Enumclaw Pool receive critical funding to continue serving our community,” said King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn. “District 9 residents have paid for these grant programs, and it is good to see the funds come back into our region.”
“The Enumclaw Pool is an important facility where our community comes together for activities for all age groups,” Enumclaw Mayor Jan Molinaro said. “Whether it’s learning to swim, or competitive school sports to staying healthy, the pool reaches so many families.”
The pool, which celebrated the construction of a new party room, family changing rooms, improved ADA accessibility, and a new roof with park levy funds last April, is being granted $400,000 to tackle its aging electrical and mechanical systems.
Enumclaw Parks Director Alina Hibbs said some of the equipment being repaired and upgraded is original from the 1970s.
Despite the repairs being run-of-the-mill, Hibbs said she and her staff are “excited” to finally have funding for them.
Also receiving park levy funds is the Covington pool ($724,000), the Auburn Narrows trail ($1 million), Henry’s Switch Park ($500,000), and the Jenkins Creek Trail ($1 million).
