Halloween happenings on the Plateau

The spooky season is upon us — which means the Plateau comes alive with everything from family fall fun to spine-chilling excitement.

Of course, there’s nothing scarier than the White River bridge still being out of commission, which may put a damper on Halloween fun this year.

But there’s something for everyone on both sides of the bridge, so unpack your warm flannels and get ready to pick those pumpkins while the picking’s good.

TRICK OR TREATING

There’s nothing quite like trick-or-treating, whether you go from house to house or from business to business in your downtown district.

The Black Diamond Eagles Club is hosting its trunk-or-treat event on Oct. 26, from 2 to 5:30 p.m.

The Buckley Chamber of Commerce is also hosting its Halloween celebration on Oct. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. on Main Street.

Finally, the Enumclaw will be closing Cole Street on Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m.

THOMASSON FAMILY FARM

Enumclaw’s Thomasson Family Farm has a whole month’s worth of autumn activities on weekdays and weekends, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., until Oct. 30.

Its biggest attractions may be the twisting corn maze and the 10-acre pumpkin patch, but you can’t forget about the wagon rides, the corn box, sports games like tetherball and life-sized foosball, the trike track, bubble table, and various refreshments and food every day of the week.

And on the weekends only, there’s also the mega slide, zip line, the apple sling shot, laser tag, the feed store (corn on the cob, corn dogs, lemonade, kettle corn), and the ice cream parlor.

Note that all activities — including pumpkin picking — require admission. If you’d like to pick a pumpkin without buying a ticket, there will be some being sold at the ticket booth.

Ticket prices differ whether bought online or in-person; go to thomassonfarm.com for ticket prices, season passes, and discounts.

MARIS FARMS

Maris Farms has it all — family-friendly fun while the sun is up, and scares galore when it goes down on weekends through Oct. 26. (Some weekdays are available.)

During the day, there’s the corn maze, ropes course, candy cannon, mega slide, live animal races, the jumping pillow, and so much more.

There’s also “Boom Town” add-ons like the paintball, gel blaster, and apple blaster ranges, and gem mining for an extra fee on top of the general admission tickets.

The Haunted Woods

Agro-tourists beware: you’re in for a scare.

Yes, ghosts, goblins, and freaky clowns with chainsaws have once again gathered in Maris Farms’ Haunted Woods (on weekends only), waiting to see who is brave enough to survive the 45-minute adventure.

It’s recommended that you show up three hours ahead of time to enjoy the farm and wait in line.

General admission tickets allow you to enjoy limited farm activities (see Haunt & Play below) and pick pumpkins, and a fast pass promises a line wait time of five minutes or less.

Haunt & Play

Want to do all of the above?

Buying a Haunt & Play ticket gets you four hours of farm access, which includes the corn maze, wagon rides, mega slide, jump pillow, and zip lines, before venturing to your doom in the Haunted Woods.

Tickets

All ticket prices depend on the day of the week and any additional add-ons. Go to marisfarms.com for more information.

THE FRIGHT FACTORY

Churning out screams all month is Buckley’s Fright Factory, which has been voted one of the scariest haunted houses by Fright Find for numerous years in a row.

The Factory will be open Fridays through Sundays from Oct. 3 to Nov. 1 — including Halloween night — at various hours.

Tickets are bought on-site, cash only (there are ATMs). General admission is $20, or fast-passes for $35.

There will be food trucks for the famished as well.
