The city of Enumclaw and other south King County municipalities are hosting electronic recycling and extra garbage disposal events later this summer.

A mini-recycling event, organized by Enumclaw, Black Diamond, and Maple Valley is scheduled for Aug. 15, 9 a.m. to noon, at Tahoma High (23100 SE Bear Blvd).

Hazardous waste officials will be collecting old refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, appliances, scrap metal, electronics and computer equipment, and television sets. Confidential document shredding is also available.

For more details on what is accepted at the site, what will be rejected, and what fees may be charged, go to Enumclaw Public Works’ Facebook page.

Then on Sept. 14 – 18, Enumclaw garbage trucks will be picking up extra trash during the city’s 26th annual Residential Neighborhood Cleanup.

During this time, eligible residential garbage customers (not apartment residents) can put out one major appliance and up to five bags, bundles, or cans of trash with their usual bin.

All trash must be contained in receptacles equivalent to 32-gallons, not exceeding 50 pounds each.

Furniture, mattresses, box springs, large electronics (those get recycled at the earlier event), hazardous waste, yard waste, tires, rocks, and concrete will not be accepted.
