Letter to the Editor: Clothes make the woman

You’ll probably call me an old fuddy- duddy, but the provocative, skintight clothing worn by girls and women these days is cause for concern. These clothes leave nothing to the imagination, and are close to being obscene.

Ladies, we can do better than this.

One of the main reasons for concern is the posting on the internet of young women in skin-baring outfits. There are many predators, pedophiles, and other dangerous individuals (mostly men) who are looking at this content.

I recently went to a restaurant in Yakima. The waitress was showing so much of her breasts, that my husband and I were uncomfortable. The skintight pants she wore were just as revealing. I noticed another diner, a young man, who looked like he was trying not to look at the “display.”

I don’t know when this form of dressing became acceptable, but I hope that we can return to wearing reasonable clothing again. If you want to wear stretch pants, which were originally intended for working out, then put on a skirt, or wear a tunic top that will cover your behind. This seems reasonable to me.

My mother said that the way a female dresses determines how she will be treated by males. If she dresses indecently, then she will not be respected by males. If she acts and dresses like a lady, she will be treated like a lady.

I’ll say it once more, “Ladies, we can do better than this.”
