    On May 23, the City Council voted for a 9 percent rate increase for the city’s water and a 5.5 percent increase for sewer. mThe council decided to increase the rate only for July 2017, and to disregard the recommended percentages from the FCS Group — the firm hired by the city to create a study on Bonney Lake’s utilities.

    The Bonney Lake City Council has spent over a month mulling over proposed increases in water and sewer rates and are one step closer to making a final decision. In a workshop meeting on May 16, the City Council came together to further discuss whether or not residences will have to pay more for their water and sewer usages.

    At the April 18 Bonney Lake City Council workshop, the council members were presented with study results of the proposed rate increases for water and sewer services. The study results were based on single-family residences that use 700 cubic feet (7 centum cubic feet or, 7 ccf) of water or sewer per month, which comes out to 5,236 gallons.
