Plans for a $32 million National Guard armory – a two-story facility that will sit on 20 acres on the rural edge of Buckley – were made public the morning of June 12.
Without debate, members of the Enumclaw City Council gave police the authority to ticket motorists deemed guilty of “inattentive driving.”
HARASSMENT: Police took a report June 12 about a student being harassed at a local school. An officer made contact and determined there was mutual activity between two students. The parent was satisfied with the school staff handling the situation.

SEX OFFENDER: A Florence Street resident arrived at the police station the evening of June 10 to report a suspicious subject living next door. Police determined the man had failed to register as a sex offender and also was wanted on a felony warrant issued by Everett.
MINOR THEFT: At 5:45 p.m. June 11 officers were dispatched to a Buckley store where a 12-year-old from Buckley and a 16-year-old from Bonney Lake had admitted to stealing candy bars and an energy drink. They were arrested for theft and released to their parents. The case was forwarded to the Pierce County juvenile prosecutor for review and charging.

On the strength of his final three events, Joe Cerne moved up 13 spots to finish fourth in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships and earn All-American honors. The junior from Enumclaw, who attends the University of Puget Sound, finished with a total of 6,560, which was a personal-best and sits at No. 3 on the UPS all-time list.
The jury returned its verdict late Wednesday morning in the case of accused Enumclaw pastor Malcolm Fraser, finding him guilty of sex crimes committed against a young girl.
THEFT INTERRUPTED: Suspects in a Volkswagen Jetta attempted to take a set of speakers that were for sale in a Roosevelt Avenue parking lot. The incident occurred the afternoon of May 20 and the attempted theft was thwarted by the reporting party, who did not want to pursue charges if the suspects were located.
