    The signs of spring are all around us – the robins are chirping, the flowers are blooming, and Cascade Water Alliance has started diverting water into Lake Tapps. The company stopped releasing water from the lake in the beginning of February. Filling the lake from White River was set to begin March 1.

    Water levels in Bonney Lake have lowered by approximately 1.29 feet since flood water started pumping into Lake Tapps.

    It’s looking like Bonney Lake has a handle on the flooding that has plagued some city residents for the past couple months. Residents along 62nd Street behind Lakeridge Middle School started noticing at the end of December that rain water wasn’t draining back into the ground like in previous years.

    East Pierce Fire and Rescue is once again asking its residents for more revenue by putting a levy lift measure on the April special election ballot. This levy lift measure comes a year and a half after the department asked voters to renew a Maintenance and Operations levy, which did not receive enough votes to pass and cut East Pierce’s budget by $3 million.

    Bonney Lake begins pumping flood water

    With floodwaters in Bonney Lake continuing to rise, the city raced to set up a water pump to take the water off 62nd Street and into Lake Tapps. The flood started in late December, when residents began noticing that water on 62nd Street, 187th Street and the intersection of 188th and 62nd was not returning to the ground and started covering the roads.

    The Washington Poison center has released itsyearly summary of e-cigarette exposure calls. According to the center, e-cigarette exposures were generally lower in 2015 than in 2014, and received a total of 156 calls.
